Lost Raccoon?

Anna Raccoon’s site has been down most of the day, it seems. I was home at around 6:30 and there were emails asking if I knew anything – I don’t.

Her farcebook account is closed too. I am not on Twitter so don’t know if she even had an account there.

I know she said that if anything was to happen to her, she had left instructions to blitz the lot but is that what’s happened?

I’m hoping it’s just a server glitch. But fearing the worst.

  1. Please no, it is one of my very favourite blogs but I am sure she would have left word for her husband or solicitor to let her followers know?

  2. A lovely but unwell lady. Over the years we have had the odd collaboration – in fact, I put the header on her current blog together for her. I will be very very sad indeed if the worst has happened.

    Fingers crossed….

  3. If she’d ‘just’ been hacked or there was a server error then I think AR would have let us know by now because she has no doubt been deluged with emails .The portents are bad. 😦

  4. If there was a glitch then it probably won’t be sorted out until later today. Leggy noticed it at 3am and its only 9am now. I hope she’s OK.

  5. UPDATE: Her Twitter account is still up but I don’t think she uses it much. I’m fairly confident it’s the right one as her blog posts are linking into it. @AnnaRaccoon2010

I’ve left an appropriate tweet saying we’re all concerned. There are several other similar concerns tweeted on there but no response.

  6. I think she is still in the middle of medical tests and so forth, which, from my understanding of her post last week about the French health system, suggests that she has to travel some distance to the nearest French specialist hospital and may have to stay for some days there.

There was also a power cut that affected her blog earlier this week.

    Here’s hoping all is well.

  7. Just got a redirect again to the Bluehost site. Trying to reference back posts gets an Error 404 — File not found. Time now 18:14 (GMT+1) on 20 November. Fingers very much crossed.

          • Her blog email is annaraccoon2010@gmail.com
Which I have resisted the temptation to email as , if the worst has happened , it would be inexcusable insensitive to expect, even by insinuation, Mr G to be bothered about answering emails. Especially when her much-closer-than-I friends have already emailed her private account.

            • It wasn’t me who wanted to know about a blog address, I have her private email. Of course no one wants to intrude, I imagine most friends sent a brief email saying we were worried. I commented that it had not been bounced back.

              • I know, wasn’t getting at you or DP nor accusing anyone of insensitivity/intruding just explaining why I hadn’t bothered to email her instead of asking here yesterday if Leg had had any news.

                • We are all worried I guess and just hoping someone will hear soon, when I went in for my cancer op I left a draft email to friends that my son just had to update and send. I can’t see Anna not leaving some way of letting friends and followers know, I am hoping she is maybe back in hospital but she has never taken the blog down before. Still I will keep my fingers X.

                  • Sorry – that’s not correct. Anna has taken the blog down several times in the past (5 or 6?) when her detractors got to be too much. Let’s hope this isn’t’y a wholly health related interruption.

  8. It doesn’t look good at all, I just hope someone will find a way to let us know, I will miss her very much. I have followed her for a long time and also been through cancer, we used to share ‘scanxiety’ but I have been luckier so far.

  9. I live very close to her, literally her old and new addresses are 15 minutes away but in different directions, we spoke on maybe 3 occasions by phone and we met once a few years back when she invited me into their home, I met her husband who is a true gentleman, I hope too it is only a glitch, reading a blog is one thing, meeting the blogs creator and therefore becoming aquainted with them is something very different. I most sincerely hope all is as well as it can be.

  10. internic.net reports:

    Domain Name: ANNARACCOON.COM
    Registrar: FASTDOMAIN, INC.
    Whois Server: whois.fastdomain.com
    Referral URL: http://www.fastdomain.com
    Name Server: NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
    Name Server: NS2.BLUEHOST.COM
    Status: clientTransferProhibited
    Updated Date: 19-nov-2013
    Creation Date: 15-jan-2009
    Expiration Date: 15-jan-2019

so it looks like a change done yesterday, and not because they just forgot to renew. And fastdomain.com is reporting that annaracoon.com is available.

so fingers crossed, but with the farcebook account is closed too not looking good.

    I rather approve(d?) of your blog AnnaRacoon…

    • Her domain name was annaraccoon.com, not annaracoon.com. She still owns annaraccoon.com. Yes, the whois/DNS records were changed at 16:54 on 19th November, presumably to point away from the blog website.

I’m thinking positive thoughts for her. Be well, Anna.

  13. Ah. Looks bad.

‘Tis a real shame – many of the blog posts were worth preserving. Lots of interesting info there. If I’d known they were going to blitz it I’d have saved some of it…Ah well

    • Sorry if that sounds insensitive btw – I of course wish her the best of luck with her health.

I think what I was saying is that it just seems a shame to delete all your thoughts like that – there was some really good work there, I thought.

      • She did say before she went for surgery that if anyone wanted to save posts to do it as everything would be pulled if she didn’t make it. Unfortunately I didn’t know how to. Still hoping she is alright though, I do wish someone could let us know. I have looked on the blogs of regular contributors but nothing yet.

is where you can find some/most of her articles although I don’t think the comments get saved.

Just ‘right click’ and ‘save page as..’ to download it as an HTML file (ie a web page) onto your computer. That’s using Firefox- other browsers will be similar….although don’t know if iPad Safari will let you but then that’s your own fault for being a metrosexual New Yorker 😛

I am using IE and gave not had any problems before. I have changed to a newer desktop which might have something to do with it but everything else seems fine.
